Staying online in Australia
Australia is huge, and the distances between highlights are big. An Australia eSIM keeps maps, rideshares and bookings working in Sydney, Melbourne and along the coast, with coverage reaching many regional areas.
Mobile coverage
Cities and the main coastal routes are well covered. Away from towns, coverage drops sharply: much of the outback, parts of national parks and long stretches of highway have no signal at all.
Main networks:TelstraOptusVodafone
Your Globbi eSIM connects to a partner network in Australia. Coverage depends on location, like any mobile network.
Good to know in Australia
- Download offline maps and tell someone your route before driving through the outback.
- Opal cards and contactless payments work on Sydney’s trains, buses and ferries.
- Free Wi-Fi is common in cafés and libraries, but mobile data is the easiest option on the move.
- Most visitors need an ETA or eVisitor before flying. Check the visa section below.
